Under the "Belt and Road" China-Iraq energy cooperation framework, the Rumaila 730MW Combined Cycle Power Station is a key benchmark project. Located in Basra, southern Iraq, adjacent to Rumaila Oilfield, it alleviates local power shortages and upgrades the energy structure, serving as PowerChina’s first Middle East power project to support Iraq’s energy reconstruction with Chinese technology and equipment.

As an expansion project, it upgrades 5 existing 293MW simple cycle gas units and adds 5 waste heat boilers, 2 steam turbine generator units and supporting equipment, with an actual installed capacity of 707MW (nominated 730MW). By March 2023, it had generated over 3 billion kWh, ensuring oilfield production, residents’ electricity use and grid stability in southern Iraq.

Located in a subtropical desert with extreme summer temperatures up to 52℃, the project faces sand corrosion and other challenges, requiring high-performance engineering materials. As a core supplier, Cosee Industry provides high-quality products to support the project’s smooth operation.

Cosee Industry supplies four core products for key links of the power station:

Outer Diameter Steel Pipes for Four Major Pipeline Systems: Applied to the power station’s main steam, reheat steam and feed water pipelines, these high-temperature and high-pressure bearing components have excellent heat and corrosion resistance, ensuring stable media transportation and unit safety.
Small-Diameter Steel Pipes: Widely used in auxiliary systems (auxiliary steam, instrument pipelines, etc.), they feature precise dimensions and strong sealing, adapting to desert conditions and ensuring stable unit operation.
CS Plate (Carbon Steel Plate): Used for equipment foundations, steel structure connections and pipeline supports, it has high strength and corrosion resistance, preventing foundation settlement and structural deformation in harsh desert environments.
H Beam Pipes (H-Beam + Structural Steel Pipes): Applied to plant steel structures and equipment supports, they have optimized cross-sections and strong bending resistance, withstanding desert winds and temperature differences to ensure structural stability.
